Lisa and I have been friends for over 25 years. We have watched each other’s children grow up in loving, caring homes. Unlike our own children, many children today are growing up in the foster care system—a system that cannot meet the needs of the children in its care due to the overload of cases. We decided to get involved in CASA (court appointed special advocates) to hopefully make a change and provide a child in need a fighting chance. Helping an 11 and a 17-year-old girl navigate through the challenges of everyday life through our work as a CASA has been beyond rewarding and a relationship that will be forever in our hearts.
